I'm thrilled to share that I am joining Better Collective's global Group Management team as VP of Group Legal & Compliance.Joining BC in 2016 was a pivotal moment for me. New to Denmark and intending to make a career pivot away from law, I was happy to join the team as a student assistant after completing my MSc.I managed to keep a lid on my inner lawyer for about a month before getting to work on redrafting contract templates. In-house legal careers were not widely discussed when I graduated from my law degree, but I found my calling in the constantly evolving environment of Better Collective. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work in a role which has enabled me to utilise and develop a broad variety of skills and experience. Those stats classes with Excel, SPSS and R helped build our first in-house contract automations, legal budgets and business cases. Though not a traditional legal career path, my time at BC has fostered creativity, innovation and growth in unexpected ways.Over the years, I have had the privilege of being part of our remarkable journey. We've navigated 36 acquisitions, celebrated an IPO and dual listing, expanded our geographical footprint, and witnessed tremendous revenue growth and diversification.I owe a big thank you to Marc Pedersen for hiring me and creating the first legal role in BC and to Flemming Pedersen who bet on me when he was newly arrived as CFO with 6 months to IPO the company. One of the highlights of my career has been the opportunity to work with amazing team members like Marina Markovic and Milena Manović and their teams who have worked so hard to build an award winning compliance function. Vladica Milošević who in 4 years has built an amazing Legal Ops function and of course, Emil Sepstrup Reventlow who has built an outstanding Corporate Legal team and who navigated maternity leave cover as Acting GC 10 months into his BC career with aplomb. The journey we've been on wouldn't have been possible without extensive external legal support, particularly from Andreas Nielsen and Christian Eichen who have been an instrumental part of the BC journey. A special thank you goes to my husband, Andrew Muir. Navigating all the ups and downs of new countries, jobs and parenthood is easy when you have an in-house barista with a gift for turning chaos into calm. As I take on this new role, I'm excited about the opportunities ahead. Here's to the future and to reaching new heights together!
